Privacy Policy

Pyre Weather ("we", "us") is an educational climate-reanalysis map builder operated by Steel City Endurance, LTD. This policy describes what information we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect
Without an account, Pyre collects no personal information. Map settings you choose are encoded in the page URL and stored only in your browser (localStorage) to remember preferences like layout and units. We use no advertising or analytics trackers.
With an account, we store:
- Your email address — used to identify your account and to send the email described under "Email we send" below.
- Your name, if you sign in with Google and your Google profile provides one.
- Your saved content — the maps, projects, and folders you create, including rendered map images and the settings ("recipes") used to generate them.
How we use it
Your information is used solely to operate your account and library. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where it lives
Account data and saved maps are stored with Supabase (our database and authentication provider). The application is hosted on Render. Payments are processed by Stripe for Steel City Endurance, LTD, and your card statement shows Steel City Endurance; we receive your email address and what you bought, never your card number. If you sign in with Google, authentication is handled by Google; we receive only your email address and basic profile info, never your Google password.
Saved map images are private to your account. Sharing a map shares only its settings as a URL — never the image or any account information.
Site administrators cannot open your saved maps, projects, or folders. What we can see is an anonymous usage count: which variable, level, region, mode, and time scale were rendered, tied to a hashed visitor id, never to your name or email. A hashed visitor id is a scrambled code made from your browser's details; it lets us tell two visits by the same browser apart, but it cannot be turned back into who you are. We use it to see which kinds of maps people make.
Cookies and local storage
Pyre uses browser localStorage to keep you signed in and to remember interface preferences. We set no third-party or advertising cookies.
Email we send
Every account receives account and service email: confirming your address, resetting your password, receipts, a card about to expire, a change to these terms or this policy, and the start and end of a trial or promotion. These keep your account working and cannot be turned off while you have an account.
New accounts also receive a short mapping guide, and after that product updates from time to time about what is new on the site. Each of these has an unsubscribe link.
News and offers only get sent if you tick the box on the sign-up form. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can change this in your account settings, from the account menu.
Your choices
You can delete individual saved maps, folders, or projects at any time from your library. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below and we will remove it.
Children
Pyre is intended for students, educators, and researchers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
